Have you ever wondered what Tips4Expat really means?

Here’s a little behind-the-scenes story: it took me six months to find the right name!

When I was preparing to launch Tips4Expat in 2016, I wanted more than just a catchy business name. I wanted something meaningful, something that would reflect both the services we offer and the personal approach I believed in.

After six months of searching, Tips4Expat finally felt right. And ten years later, it still does!

TIPS: More Than Just a Name

Behind those four letters lies the philosophy that has guided us from day one:

T — Tailor-made
I — International
P — Personal
S — Services

Together, they stand for Tailor-made International Personal Services.

Four words that describe what we believe in.

  • Tailor-made: Because no two relocations are alike. Every individual, couple or family has different needs, expectations and priorities.
  • International: Because our world is about connecting people, countries and cultures, and helping internationals find their place in the Netherlands.
  • Personal: Because behind every relocation is a human story. We believe in listening, understanding and building genuine relationships.
  • Services: Because good advice matters, but practical, hands-on support makes the real difference.

And Yes, We Love Sharing Tips!

Of course, there’s also a second meaning behind our name.

Tips are those little pieces of advice, local insights and practical recommendations that can make everyday life easier.

The 4 simply means for, and Expat refers to the international community we support.

From understanding the Dutch rental market to discovering a neighbourhood, finding the right school or navigating local customs, sometimes the smallest tip can make the biggest difference.

And after ten years of helping people settle in the Netherlands, we certainly have a few to share!

One Name, One Philosophy

Since 2016, Tips4Expat has grown and evolved, but our approach has remained the same.

We don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all relocation experience. We believe in understanding the people behind each move, anticipating their needs and finding solutions that work for them.

Whether we’re supporting an individual professional, a family or an international company welcoming new employees, the human side of relocation always comes first.

It’s also why our motto means so much to us:

Happy Family = Happy Employee = Happy Company.

Because when people feel supported and at home, everyone benefits.

Ten Years Later, the Name Still Fits!

Looking back, I’m glad I took those six months to find the right name.

It represents a little bit of practical advice, a lot of personal attention and a genuine passion for helping people start their next chapter.

That’s Tips4Expat — and that’s exactly what we intend to keep doing!
